QotD: Fictional Friend
What fictional character do you relate to most and why?
Jo in Little Women and Little Men. I wasn't so tomboyish though I had a temper like hers when I was younger, but her dream of writing and my dream of singing seem to parallel, except that I still haven't been able to do much with that dream. Also, I love reading and I would seclude myself sometimes with a snack like she did to read a book. The other part of what I relate to with her is having a house full of kids, not necessarily boys like her, but kids. Teaching them at home, giving them chores, and doing kid stuff with them sometimes, like when she went and flew kites with the boys. The way she talked to those boys is how I try to talk to my children. I didn't really realize I had the same method until I read Little Men about a year and a half ago. I'll see if I still relate to the older her in Jo's Boys when my children are grown a bit more and ready to start looking for that special someone.
I also relate to Mother in Little Women. Of course, much of the way Jo is as a mother is like her own Mom, so that is probably why.
As for my kids... I can fit them all into that book as well.
Amie is so much like Meg. Trying to mother the younger children.
James has a bit of Laurie and a bit of Jo in him. Temper and imagination like Jo and adventuresome and has fun ideas like Laurie.
Christine is like Amy. She is artistic and wants to do things like other kids do. If the other kids at church had pickled limes, she would probably be asking me for them.
AnnaBeth is like Beth (This is where I picked the name from and God just let me use it on the right child) Delicate, willowy, and loves music so much.
Noelle is still a little hard to tell, but I think she has some Jo in her (active, but will settle down to look at a book) and some Amy (being the youngest, she has the others all somewhat doting on her and bosses them around the way Amy does)
Beth is the only name I have from the book. I sometimes call AnnaBeth just Beth or Bethie. My Amie is not named after the Amy from the book. She is named because Jeremy's mom always wanted a daughter named Amy, but only had sons. I picked the spelling.
Well, I went above and beyond that QotD, but that's okay. My brain is lacking on original ideas to blog on. I've been in a blah state of mind for the last 2 months.
